Imperfection. There, I said it...
Let me say it again... loudly this time so your nosey neighbor (or at least your sleeping dog in the next room) can hear you ....IMPERFECTION!
Sounds like a bad word right?
Really, who doesn't want to be the PERFECT Mom, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Friend?
But what does that "Perfection" cost? It means feelings of never being enough. Feelings of comparison. Feelings of doubt. Feelings of fear. Too much. Not enough. All of these thoughts can bombard your head and are enough to make you NOT WANT TO MOVE.
Listen up, ladies. None of us are perfect. None of us have our crap together. And some of us just fake it better than others. I believe it is the imperfections in our day to day lives that make us WHO WE ARE.
The art of hand stamped jewelry is a lot like Motherhood.
It's messy. It's hard. It's IMPERFECT.
Hand stamping means taking a single metal letter stamp, lining it up on some sheet metal, and giving it your best WHACK (one time!) with a brass hammer. It means cutting yourself on sharp edges, staining your hands with various chemicals, and occasionally missing your mark. It is taking this ugly, scratched hunk of metal and creating something beautiful with it. Something meaningful. It is piecing together those individual letters, one by one, and spelling out the name of the ones you hold most dear. Or your favorite mantra. Or that one Bible verse that always gets you by.
Hand Stamping is not perfect. However there is a beautiful quality of authenticity. REALNESS. Humanness that you cannot get from a machine.
Motherhood is not perfect.
We are not perfect.
AND, my friend, that is okay with me.
